Meet Mike “BigMike” Coyle

What would you think if I told you that at 51 years old, I put football pads back on for the first time in over 30 years?

Most people assumed it was a midlife crisis. My wife, Kristine—my high school sweetheart of over 30 years—may have entertained that possibility for a minute, too.

It was something else entirely.

It was a reminder that growing older doesn't mean you stop growing. It means you've earned a little wisdom, collected a few scars, and hopefully learned which voices are worth listening to.

I'm Mike Coyle—husband, father of three, one helluva Pop-Pop, retired Sheriff's Deputy, football coach, entrepreneur, and host of The Mentor Sessions podcast.

After 21 years in law enforcement, including assignments in corrections, court security, and gang intelligence, I learned every person has a story, and that our worst moments don't have to define our future. I also learned that life is too short to keep putting off the things that make us come alive.

These days, you'll usually find me coaching football, sitting on the back patio with a good cigar and a pour of bourbon, tending the smoker, trying to shave a few strokes off my golf game, or getting thoroughly outmatched by my grandkids.

Long before podcasting, I owned a mobile DJ business, so bringing energy to a room isn't exactly unfamiliar territory. Let's just say I know my way around a microphone and a dance floor.

The Mentor Sessions was born from a simple belief: none of us become who we are alone. Throughout my life, mentors, coaches, faith leaders, friends, and family members have challenged me, encouraged me, and helped shape the person I am today.

Now, I'm on a mission to share those stories and pass those lessons forward.

I am the tribal elder who still believes in adventure, the guy who will hand you a cigar on the patio, ask you the questions that matter, and remind you that some of life’s best chapters await our writing.

Because behind every success story is someone who helped write it.
